On August 13th, Beersomm and a few friends attended the North Fork Craft Beer, BBQ, & Wine Festival at Martha Clara Vineyards in Riverhead, NY. When you think of the North Fork of Long Island you usually think of vineyards, farmers markets, pumpkin patches and sod farms. However, now a days, some very inspiring breweries are producing some great beers. So when I think of Long Island, I think of great beer.
Maple Tree BBQ catered the event with a ton of good BBQ food including pulled pork and chicken, grilled corn-on-the-cob, potatoes, coleslaw, and other great dishes. A whole pig was also roasting on a spit. Check out the menu to the right.
Nearly 60 craft breweries, many of them local, were in attendance pouring 2, 3 and sometimes 4 of their beer on draft. Here are some of our favorite breweries who were in attendance:
Greenport Harbor Brewing Company
Captain Lawrence Brewing Company
Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits
Similar to Sonoma and Willamette Valleys out west, this festival might be the first sign of a beer and wine culture appears to be growing together.
Thanks to the weather and the beautiful setting, overall it was a great beer festival. We usually hate beer festivals because of the crowds but the limited ticket sales also kept the lines low and thus the wait for a beer was not too bad.
We’d like to thank Martha Clara Vineyards for a great setting and to Starfish Junction Productions for putting on a great event.
Here are some pictures of the event:
